Guggul is the valuable gum resin extracted from the sap of the Indian myrrh (Commiphora Mukul) tree. Traditionally, Guggul is tapped from the stem of the balsam- or myrrh tree. Its Indian name “Guggulu” means “that which protects against diseases”. Ayurveda values the resin with its bitter, pungent, sweet and astringent taste as a Rasayana that is capable of pacifying all three Doshas. Guggul is recommended in particular for Vata or Kapha imbalances.

Description

Guggul has the following properties:

Rasa (taste) is pungent (Katu) and bitter (Tikta).
Guna (physical property) is light (Laghu), dry (Rooksha), it clears channels (Vishada), it is minute (Sukshama) and brings movement (Sara).
Virya (potency) is hot (Ushna).
Vipaka (metabolic effect) is pungent (Katu).

It balances the Vata and Kapha doshas.

Direction: Dose for adults:
1 Tablet 2 x per day with water.
